Rolex Yacht-Master 40 ref. 16622 Platinum bezel – P-Serial from year 2000

Introduced in 1992, the 16622 Yacht-Master has, in a relatively short time, managed to carve out a place for itself among Rolex’s most emblematic models – one that it partly owes to its historical significance. It was, after all, the first new model in the Swiss manufacturer’s catalog since the release of the 1964 Daytona Cosmograph. Rumor would have it that Rolex originally intended it as a replacement for the Submariner but instead made a last-minute call to release it as an entirely separate model.
Whereas the Sub owes its popularity to the utilitarian aesthetic that defines it, the Yacht-Master opted for a more lavish appearance that has made it especially popular among luxury boat owners and lovers of the high seas.
The example on offer here dates to year 2000 and is in very good condition. It comes equipped with a steel Oyster case that gives it the strength and versatility that Rolex is known for, topped by a matt-blasted platinum bezel with polished raised Arabic numerals and sides. The case’s 40 mm size guarantees that it will fit most wrists very well and – together with the blend of polished and brushed surfaces – makes the watch quite viable as a dress piece. The cherry on top has to be the gorgeous silver dial adorned with luminous white gold indices and hands.
Inside, protected by the solid caseback, the time-proven (pun intended) caliber 3135 is ticking steadily away. It was just serviced by our very own in-house watchmaker.
