Now let’s be honest – few things that money can buy are better than a Submariner. Its blocky steel case and straightforward design make it impossible to resist, and its masterful construction and finishing set it apart from any other sports watch out there. In fact, the Submariner is as archetypal as the Rolex name itself at this point, and that’s little wonder – the model has represented the popular face of the brand since the 1950s, after all, adorning the wrists of actors and businessmen alike.
The watch on offer here dates to 1988 and is among the more sought-after vintage Submariner references. Compared to its modern siblings, its dimensions are a tad more compact, featuring a slimmer case that measures approximately 40 mm in diameter and sporting a stealthier profile. As our pictures will testify, the watch is in very good condition, with the caramel patina of the indices only adding the no-date dial’s old-timey aura. Last but not least, the ref. 5513 is powered by non-other than the venerable in-house caliber 1520, which here is ticking accurately.
The watch comes outfitted with a replacement bracelet with A serial (1976) in very good condition and – somewhat regrettably – comes without any boxes or papers.
Covered by a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase.
