Backed by more than a hundred years of history, Rolex is easily the most recognizable and celebrated watch manufacturer in the world. What’s more, its timeless Submariner is one of, if not the most iconic design ever conceived in watchmaking. Introduced in 1953, it was the first wristwatch waterproof to a depth of 100 meters (330 feet), and – as any knowledgeable enthusiasts would confirm – it has since served as a benchmark among diver’s wristwatches.
The watch on offer here is a rather exclusive version of the iconic model. The 16613 dates to the mid-90s and combines the robustness of stainless steel with the energetic luster of 18k yellow gold and blue dial & bezel insert. Many devotees consider it one of the last true Submariners as it retains the more balanced profile characteristic of earlier models, which was lost with the introduction of the Supercase. While the thicker lugs and crown guards seen on modern versions do indeed add to the Sub’s wrist presence, some purists still prefer the sweeping lines of these earlier models, and it’s not hard to see why. What’s more, the aluminum bezel offers a wholly different look and feel than modern Cerachrome inserts; one characterized by its vintage ambiance.
The Rolex Submariner Date ref. 16613 is powered by the in-house caliber 3135 – a 31-jewel high-beat automatic movement that boasts a power reserve of 48 hours, as well as a reputation of infallible reliability.
Our offering is in excellent condition, was serviced at a Rolex AD in 2016, probably polished then and worn very little ever after, so it comes in a very full set of boxes and papers (even the original purchase receipt is present), and is equipped with its original Oyster bracelet. Ticking per specs.
Covered by a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase.
