It was with its maritime legacy in mind that Omega launched its Planet Ocean line in 2005, but it did so not to simply pay homage to that legacy, but to bring it to the new millennium.
The 600M Chronograph features a familiar – but upscaled to 45.5 mm – steel case contrasted by a black ceramic bi-directional bezel and a matte black dial. The latter comes adorned with a small seconds display, a date window, and a central chronograph hand, which counts through a set of applied steel indices. The sixty-minute and 12-hour counters are symmetrically laid out in the skirts of the aggressive arrow hands, allowing for intuitive reading at a glance.
Thanks to its helium escape valve and screw-down crown and caseback, the 600M Chronograph is water resistant up to 600 meters (2000 feet), qualifying it as a fully-fledged professional diver’s watch. The cherry on top: it – or rather the movement it houses – is a certified Chronometer. The OMEGA Co-Axial caliber 9300 at the heart of this illustrious composition is proudly showcased by the transparent caseback.
