With all the noise around Omega’s sports watches, it’s easy to forget that divers and chronographs aren’t what originally made the brand famous. As a matter of fact, the universally-celebrated Seamaster started life as a decidedly dressier timepiece, and so did its more luxurious variation, the Seamaster De Ville. However, due to the Seamaster’s modern transformation, Omega assigned the De Ville name to a more refined and elegant collection of timepieces, which would come to embody all the qualities that the Seamaster no longer could.

The De Ville Prestige Co-Axial Chronometer 424.10.40.20.06.002 features a grey silk-like dial with an exterior minute track, blued hour and minute markers, cabochons as well as blued Roman numerals, The hands are blued as well and their slender sword-shape are is very reminiscent of those on vintage Seamaster models, as is the 39.5 mm stainless steel case with its simple lines and sleek silhouette. The date display is positioned at 3 o’clock and is the only interruption to the overall symmetry of the piece’s classic design.
