The watch is a very special Heuer Autavia 2446C from the late 60s. It has the Tachymeter bezel – a logarithmic scale that measures units per time increment, making it a true automotive instrument for timing average mph/kph in drag racing. It is the second execution version with compression case (snap caseback), sold only for two years – 1968-69. The movement is the almighty Valjoux 72 – professionally serviced in 02.2019 by our certified watchmaker. Ticking strong and chrono functions as it should. The case is unpolished, in very good condition, the caseback has the typical wear for those Autavias – faded engravings, but still visible. Comes on an original Tropic strap – something very rare to see for those and with a Heuer branded buckle. A very cool addition to this highly collectable model is that it comes with some significant papers with it – a vintage Heuer catalog from 1968/1969 and a letter from the Bulgarian Import company in those years to the Civil Aviation Administration. It instructs them to choose a watch from the catalog to proceed with purchasing it from Heuer-Leonidas AG. Very rare set and a very cool watch.
