The Japanese are a proud people who hold a profound respect for their traditions and heritage and thus invariably incorporate them into the objects and artifacts they create. It is precisely this attitude that turned Seiko into the international powerhouse of watchmaking that we know and love today.
The ref. SBGH271G Four Seasons continues the tradition Grand Seiko has established of encapsulating natural phenomena within its dials. Rikka, the first part of the model’s name, is a poetic word meaning “snow” spelled out as “six” and “flower” in kanji, alluding to a parallel between the usual six-pointed interpretation of a snowflake and a six-leafed flower. Rikka, therefore, refers to the delicate texture that the dial showcases. The Early Summer designation, meanwhile, reveals the source of inspiration behind the lush-green dial – as spring passes to summer, Japan turns from fresh, bright green to dark green with a hint of golden glimmer. It is the latter that the gold indices and sword hands conspire with to lend the watch a warm glow. Encasing this beautiful composition is the 62GS Modern Reinterpretation case, which is characterized by a mirrored, multi-sided geometry, wide-dialed bezel-free, construction, and, of course, Seiko’s Zaratsu manual polishing technique. Of course, the exceedingly comfortable bracelet continues the case’s masterful finishing.
Behind the exhibition caseback, the Hi-Beat 9S85 caliber from the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in the Iwate Prefecture is ticking confidently away.
Our offering is in very good condition, shows only some hairpins on the right side of the case next to the bezel, and comes in a full set of boxes and papers.
