The Mille Miglia gets its name from the famous Italian road race that began in 1927, and it is undoubtedly one of Chopard’s most historical watches. The brand has served as Official Timekeeper of the Mille Miglia Storica since 1988, so it’s quite fitting that its flagship should pay homage to the classic car race. What’s more, Chopard president Karl-Friedrich Scheufele has raced in every edition of the event since 1988, which testifies to the authentic passion that drives the brand. The Chopard Mille Miglia 42 Racing Colors Chronograph’s design is a throwback to the 1950s and 60s. It comes outfitted with a classic round stainless steel case, whose most prominent characteristic is its high-polished finish. The dial features large luminescent Arabic indices and displays central hours, minutes, and seconds. Its pristine silver color was obtained via galvanic treatment and reflects the signature German racing colors. The watch comes outfitted with a black strap, which presents an unusual blend of perforated calfskin on the outer side and black rubber on the inner side. The latter imitates the pattern of 1960’s Dunlop tires and ties into the spirit of this limited-edition timepiece wonderfully. Inside, the 37-jewel ETA 2894-2 ticks steadily away.
