Breitling SA was founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling – a passionate and innovative watchmaker known for his sharp business sense. In 1915 – barely a year after he had passed – his son, Gaston, proved he had inherited his father’s pioneering spirit by introducing one of the first-ever wrist chronographs with a separate push-piece above the crown. The brand’s innovations continued well into the 1940s, and in 1952 – with Willy Breitling in the driver’s (or rather pilot’s) seat – the Navitimer made its debut. The iconic model proved extremely popular among pilots, airlines, and aircraft manufacturers and would later come to signify the beginning of Breitling’s avionic legacy.
The watch on offer here represents the modern face – or one of the modern faces – of that same legacy. Notably, it does away with some of the emblematic elements Breitling is known for, but it does so for a good reason – functionality. Most obviously, it replaces the unmistakable all-steel Breitling bezel with a highly legible black-and-white one also fashioned out of steel. At the same time, the digital displays on the dial take after the layout of the Emergency, which is as iconic a Breitling watch as you can get, so it does indeed strike a good balance. As our photos illustrate, the dial also features analog hours and minutes, as well as an array of useful scales around its outer edge. It also comes adorned with a neat texture and a set of sword hands and oversized stencil-style Arabic numerals at 3, 6, and 9 o’clock.
Inside, protected by the solid caseback, а high-precision in-house movement cal. B78 SuperQuartz is ticking accurately away.
Our offering is in excellent condition and comes outfitted with its OEM rubber strap. Comes in full set of boxes and papers.
The watch is covered by 1 year of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.
