A worthy successor to the legacy of its older Royal Oak brother, the Offshore Chronograph is an experience that is hard to put into words – and that’s a good thing. Much like its predecessor, the model represents an intense yearning for the future, but it nevertheless looks to the past, to the rich history it is part of, with the highest respect.
Тhis Limited Edition Royal Oak was made in 2005 and is dedicated to the Geneva-based Alinghi sailing team – winner of the 2003 America Cup – who AP supported throughout the 2000s. Its steel case measures 42 mm in diameter and follows the familiar architecture of the Royal Oak, outfitted with a set of pushers and crowns fashioned from ceramic and a leather strap with orange stitching. The latter complements the dial, which confines the emblematic Mega Tapisserie texture to the center, surrounding it with luminous stencil-style indices against a smooth backdrop. It is also accentuated with pops of red, among which is the Alinghi logo,
Inside, behind the compass-embossed caseback, the remarkable 50-jewel in-house caliber 2326/2847 is calmy ticking away.
