A worthy successor to the legacy of its older Royal Oak brother, the Offshore Chronograph is an experience that is hard to put into words – and that’s a good thing. Much like its predecessor, the model represents a deep yearning for the future, but it nevertheless looks to the past, to the rich history it is part of, with the highest respect.
The version on offer here pays tribute to the greatest bodybuilder of all time, whose rags-to-riches story has served as an inspiration for countless men – Arnold Schwarzenegger. Despite having started out as a broke Austrian immigrant, he went on to win 7 mister Olympia titles, become one of the most recognizable actors of his generation – stepping in the shoes of the iconic Terminator, facing off against the Predator, and wielding Connan’s mighty sword – as well as become the 38th governor of California.
The watch measures 42 mm in diameter, is fashioned out of 18k Yellow Gold, and incorporates all of the model’s historic hallmarks, such as the Mega Tappiserie dial, the tapering integrated (rubber) strap, and the octagonal bezel. The dark brown tone of the dial is complemented by gold-colored subdials at the 6, 9, and 12 o’clock positions and contrasted by white luminescent numerals and gold-edged luminescent hands. Finally, in accordance with the technical specifications of the Royal Oak Offshore collection, the crown and pushers are furnished with black rubber guards.
Behind the autographed solid caseback, the AP caliber 2226/2840 is ticking accurately.
