Movado
The Movado watch brand was founded in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland in 1881 by Achilles Ditesheim. Initially, the company focused on producing pocket watches, but eventually expanded to include wristwatches as well. In 1906, Movado introduced the Polyplan, a watch with a curved case that was designed to fit more comfortably on the wrist. This innovative design helped to establish the brand as a leader in the industry.
Throughout the 20th century, Movado continued to innovate and introduce new designs, including the Museum Watch in 1947, which featured a simple, minimalist design with a single dot at the 12 o’clock position to represent the sun at high noon. This iconic watch became a symbol of the brand and helped to solidify Movado’s reputation as a producer of high-quality, sophisticated timepieces.
In the 21st century, Movado has continued to release new models that combine classic design elements with modern technology, such as their Connect smartwatch collection. Today, the brand is known for its sleek, stylish watches that are popular with both men and women.
