Vintage Zenith Triple Register Chronograph with cal. 143-6 (Excelsior park 40) – Serviced, 1950s

The timepiece on offer here was made in 1950, 19 years before Zenith unveiled the first-ever automatic chronograph. To further put things into perspective, that’s the same year the Korean War began after North Korean communist forces invaded South Korea.

The once-silver dial is classic and straightforward and, as you’ve no doubt noticed, has taken on a coat of heavy patina representative of its personality. Of course, it’s up to you to decide whether it’s your cup of tea or not, but as far as we’re concerned, the patina does little to ruin its appeal. Plus, save for the logo, most of the writing is very well preserved, and the sword hands are as sharp and lustrous as ever. The applied indices show some pitting, thus serving as a transition between the hands and the dial.
All these years later, the lugs remain knife-edge sharp, while the case displays no signs of polishing and minimal overall scratching. The same goes for the caseback, behind which the Zenith cal. 143-6 (also known as Excelsior Park cal. 40) is ticking away. The rare movement was just serviced by our in-house watchmaker and is now pulsing with new-found life.

The watch comes outfitted with a brand new leather strap.

Covered by a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase.
