Omega Speedmaster Day-Date ref. 3529.50.00 Michael Schumacher World Champion 2002

You’d be forgiven for thinking of the Moon or outer space when you see a Speedmaster – аfter all, that’s what you’ve been conditioned to associate it with, and with good reason. As origin stories go, one could hardly do any better than the so-dubbed Moonwatch, which was famously ticking on Armstrong’s wrist as he took his “small step” from Apollo 13’s ladder to the rocky lunar surface. When it was designed, however, the Speedy wasn’t meant to visit outer space, let alone another celestial body. Quite the contrary – when it made its debut in 1957, it was aimed at the budding amateur motorsports market. The late 50s and early 60s are referred to as the Golden Age of Motorsports due to the surge in their popularity and accessibility, which in turn led to an increased demand for sports chronographs. What made the Speedmaster perfect for NASA’s missions was the very fact that it had been made to endure the kind of abuse that flinging a race car in and out of sharp corners entailed.
Even if it has been rather busy celebrating the extraterrestrial side of the Speedy’s heritage, OMEGA has always been careful to honor its true roots by keeping at least one racing model in its catalog.
The ref 3529.50.00 pays tribute to racing legend Michael Schumacher and his 2002 F1 World Championship win, which, rather interestingly, happened exactly 33 years after Neil and Buzz set foot on the Moon. The limited-edition model comes equipped with a 39 mm steel case surrounding a black carbon fiber dial adorned with several embellishments that harken to F1, such as the numerous red flourishes and the checkered small-seconds subdial. Features include hours, minutes, day, date, month, small seconds, chronograph, and tachymeter.
Inside, behind the commemorative engraved caseback, the Omega caliber 1151 is ticking resolutely away.
Our offering is in very good condition. Comes as watch only & its bracelet fits up to 18 cm wrists. Ticking per specs.

Covered by a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase.

All our watches undergo a thorough inspection and are sold in fully-authentic condition. Naturally, this includes all external and internal components. They are also serviced where needed and tested for waterproofness where it applies.

Vintage watches are checked against our database of original examples to ensure no components have been replaced or tampered with over the years, and they are serviced using strictly OEM parts. It’s no secret that most vintage watches sold online are re-dialed, overpolished, or feature movement parts with questionable origins, and those are all practices we sincerely abhor.

You can rest assured that any exceptions to the above will be disclosed in the respective timepiece’s descriptive text.

ChronoTimepieces’s service including, without limitation, our website, all information, content and any features made available to you through our Site are provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. Our directors, employees, agents, partners and content providers do not warrant that the service will be secure or available at any particular time or location.
Unless agreed otherwise in an individual case, ChronoTimepieces does not give any guarantees as to the characteristics of the goods which go beyond the statutory warranty rights or any other warranties.

  • All our watches come with a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase. The cover of said warranty is limited to the function, continuous operation and fair timekeeping and it does not cover misuse, neglect, abuse, water damage or any other form of wearer-inflicted damage.
  • Some used watches might still be covered by leftover Manufacturer warranty valid to any AD (Authorized Dealer) – please check the specific description of the watch you are buying.
  • Some new watches might be covered by Manufacturer warranty, usually activated upon purchase and valid to any AD (Authorized Dealer) – please check the specific description of the watch you are buying.
  • For vintage watches (we consider any watch older than 20 years vintage) time keeping is guaranteed within reasonable limits – ±20 sec/day, unless explicitly stated otherwise in the item’s description.
