Omega Speedmaster ’57 Co-Axial Chronograph 41.5 Blue dial ref. 331.12.42.51.03.001 – NEW

You’d be forgiven for thinking of the Moon or outer space when you see a Speedmaster. After all, that’s what you’ve been conditioned to associate it with, and with good reason. As origin stories go, you could hardly do better than the Moonwatch, which was famously ticking on Neil Armstrong’s wrist when he took his “small step” from Apollo 13’s ladder to the rocky lunar surface. Why, then, is the watch called the Speedmaster and not the Spacemaster or the Astrotimer? Quite simple – it was never designed to go to space, let alone another celestial body.
Making its debut in 1957, the ref. 2915-X Speedmaster was – like most chronographs in the following decades would be – aimed at a budding amateur motorsport market. In fact, one could reasonably argue that the racing chronograph trend would have never taken off if it hadn’t been for the model. The one on offer here —the aptly named Speedmaster 57— draws some inspiration from its influential predecessor, but its design is firmly rooted in the aesthetic of today.
The ref. 331.12.42.51.02.001 shares a few of the traits one would find on the ref. 2915-X Speedmaster, such as a stainless steel bezel without an aluminum insert and a straight-lugged case with no crown guards, but at the same time opts for a modern look highlighted by slender hands, applied indices, and – of course – a more refined construction. Outfitted with its original calf-skin leather strap, this watch really does do the timeless design of the Speedmaster justice.
Inside, proudly displayed by the saphire caseback, the in-house Co-Axial cal. 9300 is tirelessly ticking away.
Our offering is brand new, comes in a complete set of boxes and papers, and is outfitted with its original brown leather strap.

Covered by manufacturers international warranty (started in 06.2021).
