Tourbillon
A tourbillon is a mechanism found in some mechanical watches that is designed to counteract the effects of gravity on the timekeeping accuracy of the watch. The tourbillon rotates the escapement, which is the part of the watch movement responsible for regulating the time, in a cage that rotates on its own axis. This rotation helps to average out the positional errors that can occur when a watch is in different positions. The tourbillon was invented in the late 18th century by watchmaker Abraham-Louis Breguet, and is considered one of the most complicated and challenging features to manufacture in a watch movement. A tourbillon is considered a highly complicated feature, and its presence can significantly increase the cost and value of a watch. However, it is also seen as a symbol of technical skill and expertise, and is admired by watch collectors and enthusiasts for its beauty and mechanical complexity.
