Breitling SA was founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling – a passionate and innovative watchmaker known for his sharp business sense. In 1915 – barely a year after he had passed – his son, Gaston, proved he had inherited his father’s pioneering spirit by introducing one of the first-ever wrist chronographs with a separate push-piece above the crown. The brand’s innovations continued well into the 1940s, and in 1952 – with Willy Breitling in the driver’s (or rather pilot’s) seat – the Navitimer made its debut. The iconic model proved extremely popular among pilots, airlines, and aircraft manufacturers and would later go on to signify the beginning of Breitling’s avionic legacy. The watch on offer here – ref. AB011510/CA01-389A – is a continuation of that same legacy.
The Chronomat Airborne comes equipped with a robust 44 mm stainless steel case, whose finishing blends fine hairlines with mirror-polished details. Of course, the brand’s signature uni-directional bezel – characterized by its distinct bezel riders – also makes an appearance, lending the watch that unmistakable Breitling look and feel.
The beautiful blue dial exhibits a delicate sunray texture and features three black subdials, which complement the inner tachymetric ring. It also incorporates luminous applied indices and baton hands and is protected by a cambered sapphire crystal, AR-coated on both sides.
Outfitted with a five-link brushed steel bracelet, the watch wears comfortably and exudes a decidedly masculine kind of elegance. Inside, behind the stamped caseback, the COSC-certified Breitling cal. B01 is ticking per spec.
Our offering is brand new and comes in a full set of boxes and papers.
The watch is covered by 2 years of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.
