As watch manufacturers go, Blancpain is undoubtedly among the most respected ones. The brand’s reputation has a lot to do with its diverse history and enduring tradition, of course, but history and tradition are rarely enough in themselves. That’s precisely why Blancpain has been putting a ton of resources into research and development over the last decade; It’s also why pieces like the one on offer here exist. And we’re glad that they do.
The Blancpain L-Evolution Moonphase 8 Days ref. 8866-1134-53B features a stepped stainless steel case with a fixed bezel and a screw-down crown. The dial’s design can only be described as “unique” (as unimaginative as such a description is) since it doesn’t resemble anything that has come before it. It features oversized Roman numerals at 6 and 9 o’clock, luminous hands and hour markers, and a small seconds display at the 6 o’clock position. It also sports moon-phase and power reserve indicators just below 12 o’clock. The icing on the cake would have to be the pointer-date complication, which represents the union of modern and traditional horology and ties the overall design together wonderfully.
The L-Evolution Moonphase 8 Days is powered by the beautiful Blancpain Calibre 66R9, which boasts a ridiculous 192 hours of power reserve and can be seen through the display caseback.
Our offering is in very good condition – shows some hairpins, but nothing deep or major and polishing is up to the preference of the future owner (we can offer that at 180€ additional payment). Serviced in 10.2019 in Atelier Grande Complications – ticking per specs and looking sharp. Comes on the original black leather strap with branded double fold clasp – worn, but with some life left. In a very full set – all the boxes (the cushion shows some wear), papers and even the quirky feature of the big box – the Cigar Humidor set, where one can use the main box as a storage for his favourite Habanos.
