Crafted by the legendary Gerald Genta, the Royal Oak is an experience that is impossible to put into words – and that’s precisely where its allure lies. Nevertheless, let’s make an attempt!
The ref. 26022OR.OO.D088CR.01 is something of a middle child: it carries all the contemporary design staples of the Royal Oak and Royal Oak Offshore, yet, with this specific example dating to around 2004-2005 (judging by the F serial), it is a little more restrained and – some would argue – stylish than its younger siblings. That is mainly by virtue of its more compact case – which measures in at 39 mm in diameter and is crafted from Rose Gold – and its more understated proportions. Its intricate architecture, coupled with its satin finish, confers a four-dimensional presence, which its beveled edges expertly soften. Mirroring this perfection, the integrated leather bracelet complements the warm luster of the case, while its tapered silhouette complements the latter’s geometry.
The pristine-white Grande Tapisserie dial, the Royal Oak’s centerpiece, achieves a one-of-a-kind synergy with the rest of its elements. The unidirectionally-brushed octagonal bezel, for instance, captures the light, while the dial and its gold indices and hands reflect it back at the wearer, creating a captivating contrast that enhances legibility. Of course, it’s not any one single element that reigns supreme, but rather their elusive alchemy that creates the enchantment of the Royal Oak.
Breathing life into this symphony of flawless elements is none other than the venerable in-house caliber 2385.
Our offering is in outstanding condition and comes in a full set of boxes and papers. It has never been polished or otherwise tampered with, and it is quite evident that it has only been worn a handful of times. To put it bluntly, this watch is one hell of a find!
