Franck Muller might be one of the younger brands in the world of Haute Horlogerie, but it has already achieved a level of success few other brands can boast.
When watchmaker Franck Muller and Vartan Sirmakes, then a case maker, started their company in 1991, the two men agreed it would specialize in watches that render historical complications in modern and spectacular ways. The aesthetic side of their work was of equal importance to them, so the designs the duo came up with proved just as exciting as what lay underneath. Today, their Curvex case architecture is no less emblematic than those of the Cartier Tank, the Reverso, and the Panerai Luminor.

Not only does the Conquistador on offer here follow the Curvex architecture, but it incorporates some of the brand’s visual staples. It does, however, demonstrate a decidedly more fiery personality than most of the brand’s watches. The case, for example, showcases an intricate weave of PVD-coated titanium and red aluminum (ergal), which, together with the overall red-on-black color palette, effortlessly communicates the watch’s aggressive, empowering character. Taking a closer look at the dial, one notices that flowing behind the iconic Muller numerals there is a fine guilloche pattern, which consolidates at the middle – a testament to Frank Muller’s unwavering attention to detail. The brand’s watchmaking proficiency is further showcased by the numerous little details, such as the crowns, streamlined curves, and knife-edge sharp edges.
