Vintage Waltham Watch Co Diver with Date ref. CU709 140 1 – Serviced, Tropic style strap, American Made

The Waltham Watch Company, also known as the American Waltham Watch Co, produced over 40 million watches, clocks, speedometers, and other precision instruments between 1850 and 1957. Together with Bulova, it was one of the most emblematic American companies in the industry.
The charming watch on offer here dates to the late 1970s and is indicative of the period it was produced in. Despite Waltham being an American company, this watch is anything but American. After the Quartz Crisis had hit, manufacturers needed to find a way to optimize production, so they outsourced some of it. In this case, the dial and movement – the sturdy caliber SGT cal. 100-1 – were made in Switzerland, while the case was imported from Hong Kong to be married to the former two in Waltham’s historic facilities in Massachusetts, USA. The watch is in very good, entirely original condition, and it showcases the aesthetic tendencies of the 70s in the best possible light.

Covered by a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase.
