MYON Paris Vintage Chronograph with Valjoux cal. 7734 – Serviced, Blue dial and Bright-Orange hands

The 1970s were a period of dramatic upheaval for the watchmaking industry.
After the introduction of the Seiko Astron in 1969, the market entered into a tailspin, and by the end of the following decade, the world of horology would never be the same. Suddenly, Quartz watches were becoming the norm – at least for the average consumer – and, with mechanical watches having seemingly fallen out of favor, manufacturers were going out of business left and right. That meant, among other things, that movements and watch parts were quickly getting cheaper, which in turn allowed anyone with a working set of hands and in possession of the necessary gadgetry to take a shot at creating a mechanical timepiece. The results of their labors were often exactly as ghastly as you imagine, but not always. In fact, many jewelers, retailers, and makers of high-end smoking accessories brought their enduring traditions of fine craftsmanship into watchmaking, and they ended up producing some of the freshest and most funkiest watches of the 70s and 80s – watches such as the one on offer here.
MYON Paris was a manufacturer of luxurious lighters, cigar cutters, and other smoking accessories, who had their heyday around the mid-1970s. In those days, they were often mentioned alongside brands like Ronson and Dupont, so it isn’t surprising that this MYON Paris Chronograph is the well-built and exciting timepiece that it is. Not only does it incorporate the kind of attention to detail that makes you gasp with amazement, not only does it present an almost entirely individual aesthetic – although one not too removed from the Zeitgeist of the 70s – but it is also powered by one of the most iconic movements ever assembled. Used in mid-to-high-end watches to this day, the Valjoux 7734 has а reputation of being a dependable workhorse, and with good reason. It is also quite brilliant from an engineering viewpoint, and it isn’t too shabby in the looks department either, thanks to its finishing.
Our offering is in excellent condition and comes outfitted with a blue leather strap that complements the piece’s bright-orange hands. Professionally serviced in 09.2021 – keeping time perfectly.

The watch is covered by 6 months of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.
