Тhere’s hardly been a shortage of emerging brands that claim to be involved in Haute Horlogerie, but CVSTOS stands out among them all.
The company’s name comes from the Latin word for “Guardian” and communicates its passionate devotion to the art of traditional watchmaking, as does its slogan – “The Time Keeper”.
CVSTOS’s timepieces are hand-crafted in a small atelier located in Geneva’s Saint Gervais district. It is housed in a traditional shop-fronted building at the foot of rue Voltaire, where the brand’s Operations department is located. The building’s ground floor is home to a concept store that often hosts exclusive soirées, where the only entry condition is a CVSTOS watch around one’s wrist. While this certainly boosts the perceived exclusivity of the brand, its masterfully crafted pieces more than live up to the image it has forged for itself. Take the watch on offer here, for example.
The Challenge III GT Chrono-S symbolizes a union of traditional watchmaking and modern design. It comes equipped with a tonneau-shaped titanium case, which is slightly reminiscent of Richard Mille and measures 59 mm x 45 mm. Despite its size, however, it fits most wrists comfortably. The case’s finishing reveals titanium’s natural grain as well as its dark grey color, which serves the industrial ultra-modern aesthetic of the watch very well. The crown is fitted with a rubber lining that provides additional grip and is protected by an ergonomic crown guard, which integrates the Crono pushers. The skeletonized dial proudly displays the heart of the watch – the CVSTOS cal. 577 automatic chronograph movement.
