Vintage Tissot Navigator Seastar Chronograph ref. 40520 – Blue dial, 1971, Serviced, Original box

The Seastar has defined the fashionable sports watch since the 1960s, so we should be honored to still have the model around today. With that being said, some enthusiasts have found its modern iterations slightly underwhelming, and it isn’t too difficult to see where they are coming from. Don’t get us wrong – Tissot still make one heck of a good watch, but, given its history, it just seems that the Seastar isn’t getting the royal treatment it deserves. After all, the model once stood toe to toe with Omega’s iconic Seamaster in terms of both its aesthetics and its movement and specs. That’s the sort of legacy that just shouldn’t be taken lightly.
The Tissot Seastar Navigator on offer here represents just one branch of the family tree begotten by the original Seastar. It serves as an excellent example of the larger-than-life coolness that the Seastar collection once embodied, as well as a reminder of the kind of authentic pizzaz modern watchmaking often lacks. Thanks to its shape and distinctive design, one doesn’t need to be a historian to tell that it dates back to the turbulent 1970s – the Swiss manufacturer’s heydey. Its case retains most of its original finishing, its dial is as well-preserved as they come, and the bezel is almost entirely scratch-free. Best of all is what’s hidden behind the simple caseback – the celebrated Valjoux caliber 7733. The latter was just serviced by our in-house watchmaker and is in full working order. Dated by the movement serial number to 1971.
Our offering is in very good condition comes outfitted with a suitable rubber strap with blue accents.

The watch is covered by 6 months of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.
