Bell & Ross was founded in 1992 by two lifelong friends who shared a vision of functional design – Bruno Belamich (Bell) and Carlos A. Rosillo (Ross). Despite being a little late to the party, the duo quickly distinguished themselves as one of the few truly innovative independent manufacturers around, as well as one of the most idiosyncratic. What drove their success wasn’t so much the aesthetics of their watches but rather their versatility and toughness, which would become renowned throughout watchdom. Today, Bell & Ross is the official supplier for the French Air Force, the Space Lab Mission, and the Lafayette Escadrille, to name a few. As evidenced by their square cases and round, highly-legible dials, the brand’s offerings draw inspiration from military vehicles and industrial design.
Introduced in 2017, the BR-02 Diver is not Bell & Ross’s first dive watch, but it is the first one with a case designed after a professional diving bell. Its shape, therefore, effortlessly conveys the purpose of the watch, and so do its impressive specifications. The latter also make it obvious that the Marine Military Diver isn’t a mere fashion statement but a fully-fledged professional instrument capable of withstanding anything the Ocean can throw at it, all the while retaining its peerless legibility.
Few people would argue that the world of dive watches is quite oversaturated (pun intended), but the ref. BR02-20-S nevertheless manages to stand out as a fresh addition to it.
Inside, sealed away behind the etched caseback, the Sellita caliber SW200-1 is confidently hammering away. It was just inspected by our in-house watchmaker and found to be ticking per spec.
Our offering is in very good condition, comes in a full set of boxes and papers, and is outfitted with a beige Dassari leather strap – worn, but still with plenty of life left. Ticking per specs.
The watch is covered by 1 year of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.
