Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph GMT 43 ref. 102336 – 2021, Superb condition, on Bracelet
Nicolas Rieussec is accredited with having built the first chronograph some 200 years ago, and it’s precisely his original apparatus that the 2012 Montblanc Nicolas Rieussec honors.
As is to be expected – considering the brand’s reputation, that is – the Nicolas Rieussec Chronograph is as near to horological perfection as any manufacturer can hope to get. It features a chronograph complication operated via a mono-pusher and powered by the beautifully-complex caliber MB R200, which the display caseback lets us peer into. The grey dial exhibits a familiar guilloché cotes de Geneve finish and features chronograph counters with rotating disks and a day and night display. The watch also presents several other tributes to the art of traditional watchmaking, such as the thermally-blued screws and the Breguet numerals. Incorporating tradition into innovation is certainly a difficult thing to do, but Montblanc seem to have figured out how to do it perfectly. The result, in this case, is a fine modern timepiece that’s never going to go out of vogue.
