Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Compressor Diving Navy SEALs Limited edition (1500 made) ref. Q2018470 – Full set, Rubber strap

While brands like Rolex and Omega have garnered acclaim that has made them known to practically everybody, there’s a family of brands that have remained less popular yet are more highly valued by discerning watch connoisseurs. The watch on offer here was made by one of those brands – Jaeger-LeCoultre. Due to its history of producing high-quality movements, parts, and tools for brands such as Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe, JLC is popularly referred to as the watchmaker’s watchmaker. Since 2007, the Swiss manufacturer has also been making watches for the Navy SEALs, but it was only in 2011 that they made one of the SEAL models available to the public – the ref. Q2018470.
The Master Compressor Navy SEALs Limited Series comes outfitted with a 42 mm stainless steel case that showcases an unusual combination of finishes – brushed sides and polished lugs – which it owes to the SEALs requirements. The edges are sharp and crisp and give off a precision-cut feel, which the coin-edged bezel and its stenciled markers further enhance. The font is consistent across the bezel and the dial and suits the concept perfectly. As you can imagine, legibility is a top priority for the SEALs, so the dial features broad arrow hands and a tapered date window, which helps keep the layout balanced. Paired with its OEM rubber strap and branded buckle, the watch lends its wearer a tactical sort of elegance, which would give James Bond a good run for his money.
The ref. Q2018470 is powered by the in-house caliber 899, which features a gold-weighted automatic rotor with the “1000 Hours Control” seal and boasts a power reserve of 43 hours. The movement is currently ticking per spec.
