Rolex Ladies Oyster Perpetual Date 26 Gold and Steel ref. 6916 – Very fresh, 1979, Champagne dial

Rolex’s impact on modern watchmaking is, to put it delicately, noteworthy. For instance, the brand has a model in its lineup that carries the name of the first-ever hermetically sealed case – the Oyster – which Rolex introduced in 1926. The Ladies Oyster Perpetual on offer here came into being some 50 years later, at the end of the 1970s – 1979, but closely follows the original’s design.
Since it is a ladies’ watch, the ref. 6916 is distinctly elegant, and since it’s quite vintage, it invokes a rather conservative era in watchmaking. It sports a beautiful champagne dial with a sun-ray finish and combines gold and steel to an excellent effect. The three-link bracelet tapers towards the clasp and therefore underlines the graceful demeanor of the 26 mm case. Despite its venerable age, the ref. 6916 retains both its charm and its brilliance. The Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6916 is powered by the in-house caliber 2035.
