Ever since it was announced at Basellworld 2012, the Black Bay has remained one of the most popular dive watches on the market. In 2016, Tudor unveiled an all-black version of the model, which – unsurprisingly – echoed its predecessor’s success. When the Steel & Gold made its debut at Basellword 2017, however, it was seen as a bit of a risky move; after all, two-tone watches had been out of fashion for a while. Regardless, the ref. M79733N-0008 also proved a resounding success and cemented Tudor’s claim to fame.
The Tudor Heritage Black Bay S&G is best described as a modern interpretation of the emblematic 1958 ref. 7924 Big Crown. Just like it, it features an oversized crown and lacks crown guards, which contributes to its vintage aesthetic. The watch is, of course, larger than its ancient predecessor, but its size does little to spoil its old-timey charm. The contrast between the black dial and the golden font, indices, and hands further enhances its anachronistic look, as does the two-tone faux-rivetted bracelet.
The ref. M79733N-0008 is powered by the in-house cal. MT5612 – a COSC certified chronometer movement, which offers 70 hours of power reserve.
