As diving watches go, Roger Dubuis’ Easy Diver collection is rather unique.
Whereas most divers are quick to tell you about their technical specifications and performance, their various ratings and certifications, or their historical significance, an Easy Diver does no such thing. What it does is perform, all the while exuding class and refinement no matter the environment it’s in. The watch on offer here – the Acqua Mare – is one of our favorite members of the Easy Diver line.
And what a member it is. The Mare’s case is made of high-quality stainless steel and has an unorthodox shape one would rarely expect from a diving watch. The coin-edged bezel is styled in a fittingly over-the-top manner that doesn’t let you forget about the watch’s rich origins, yet it still provides all the functionality a diver needs. What almost immediately strikes one’s attention is the lack of a seconds’ hand, but, to be fair, if you’re wearing this piece, you probably aren’t particularly worried about the passage of seconds. Both the hands and the indices have been given a blood-red accentuation, which contrasts the silver carbon fiber dial and completes the watch’s ornamental look. Flipping the Mare over reveals that her backside is just as attractive as the front, if not more. And that’s without taking the expertly-decorated movement into account. Our offering is in great condition with only a few hairpins to be found on the 18k White Gold bezel – something to be expected on such a soft material. It comes with the original box, on the OEM rubber strap, sized to fit 17 cm wrists. Ticking good.
