While brands like Rolex and Omega have garnered recognition that has made them known to practically everybody inside and outside watch enthusiasts’ circles, there’s a family of brands that have remained less popular, yet are more highly valued by truly discerning watch connoisseurs. The watch on offer here was made by one of those brands – Jaeger-LeCoultre. Ever since Antoine LeCoultre made horological history by creating the first instrument to measure the micron in 1884, JLC hasn’t stopped innovating, all the while keeping to the highest standards in Swiss watchmaking. Due to its history of producing high-quality movements, parts, and tools for brands such as Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and Patek Philippe, the company is popularly referred to as the watchmaker’s watchmaker.
The Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Deep Sea Chronograph comes equipped with a large polished stainless steel case, whose design was inspired by Jaeger-LeCoultre’s historical Chronoflight instrument, as well as by the 1959 Memovox Deep Sea. The dial is white on black – adorned with prominent triangular indices, and features an eye-catching grainy matte texture. The steel bezel sports a matching matte black aluminum insert and boasts a 60-click unidirectional design, which strikes an excellent balance between precision and fluidity. Out of all the dial’s features, the most interesting is, without a doubt, the chronograph operating indicator located under the logo. This complication was also inspired by the Chronoflight and shows whether the chronograph is ready for use (white), in operation (white/red), or stopped (red) – a feature meant to prevent you from hitting the pusher in the middle of your dive. Despite the dapper look it conveys, this watch is a full-fledged professional diver, so the indicator is bound to come in handy sooner or later. The Jaeger LeCoultre Master Compressor Deep Sea Chronograph is powered by the in-house cal. 758 – a 47-jewel self-winding chronograph movement that ticks at 28,000 vibrations per hour and has a power reserve of 65 hours. Our offering is in superb condition – just polished by our master watchmaker and comes in a full set of boxes and papers, equipped with its original strap – worn, but with some life left.
The watch is covered by 1 year of limited warranty, starting on the date of purchase.
