Tag Heuer is mainly known for its motorsports-inspired Monaco, Autavia and Carrera, as well as for their numerous re-editions and remakes. However, 20 years ago, when remaking its Classic Hits was not the core focus of the company, Tag had a more varied and interesting lineup.
The piece on offer here is part of that lineup. The Tag Heuer 2000 comes in a stainless steel case and sports a stainless steel bracelet. The latter is genuinely well-made and shares a beautiful finely-brushed finish with the case. The bezel looks like it could have been as iconic as the Navitimer’s slide-rule or the Datejust’s flute, but, because of some ghastly conspiracy, it isn’t. The dial is also quite eye-catching, as its tapeserie seems to have acquired a creamy patina that suits the watch’s old-fashioned look. It’s largely because of that same look that this otherwise sporty piece gives of such a classy vibe. As indicated by the layout of the sub-dials, the 2000 Exclusive is powered by the Valjoux cal. 7750. This one was is in great cosmetic and perfect working condition – ticking very good and looking sharp. Comes as watch only, no box and no papers.
