The Deepsea Sea-Dweller measures 44 mm in diameter and is 18 mm thick, so it feels palpably substantial on the wrist. Since it consolidates everything Rolex has learned over the last 60+ years of deep-water timekeeping, the watch boasts a water-resistance rating of 3,900 meters, which is also the reason behind its name. Its familiar black dial is adorned with Chromalight hour indices and framed by a unidirectional 60-minute Cerachrom bezel, whose numerals and graduations come coated in platinum. The case follows the patented Ringlock System architecture, which incorporates a helium escape valve, and it showcases a detailed finish that blends fine hairlines with mirror-polished surfaces. Unsurprisingly, the Oyster bracelet shares the case’s immaculate craftsmanship.
The Deepsea Sea-Dweller is powered by the in-house caliber 3135 – a 31-jewel Superlative Chronometer movement that features a Parachrom hairspring, which makes it almost 10 times more resistant to temperature variations and shock than its predecessors.
