Vintage Seiko Bell-Matic Alarm ref. 4006-6060 Blue Sunray dial – 1977, Serviced, All original

If there’s one complication that remains elusive even after centuries of watchmaking progress, it has to be the mechanical alarm. Few brands have even dared to attempt incorporating it into their timepieces, but those that have done so successfully have historically ended up leagues above the rest. The JLC Memovox, the Vulcain Cricket, the Breguet Marine Alarm, and last but definitely not least, the Seiko Bell-Matic all have entire chapters dedicated to them in the horological history books, and with good reason.

The watch on offer here, the ref. 4006-6060 Bell-Matic, dates to 1977 and is in superb condition. It comes equipped with an oversized case measuring 38.7 x 43 mm, which has retained most of its original finishing, and it features an iridescent sunray blue dial that draws the eye into its depths as few others can. The shape of the case is typical of late ’70s watch design, which tends to stray from traditional lugs and round cases, instead opting for a more modernist approach to watch architecture. The use of minimalist stick hands and indices lets the dial take its rightful place as the aesthetic centerpiece, and the 3 o’clock Seiko-style day-and-date display tastefully disrupts its symmetry.
The movement within – the 17-jewel caliber 4006 – is in perfect working order and is keeping good time after having just been serviced by our very own in-house watchmaker.

The watch features only original parts and has not been refinished, redialed, or otherwise tampered with.

Covered by a limited warranty of 1 year, starting on the date of purchase.
