Seiko’s automatic chronographs, especially those produced in the 70s, occupy a special place in people’s hearts. So special, in fact, that certain enthusiasts have built their entire collections around the fabled cal. 6139 – Seiko’s first self-winding chronograph movement – and its worthy successor, the cal. 6138. And why wouldn’t you?
The two movements power some of the brand’s most acclaimed watches, including the Pogue, the Kakume, and the UFO, not to mention the entire Sports 5 Speedtimer line. The one we have the pleasure of offering here is among the rarer of the bunch.
This ref. 6139-8001 is a unique JDM variation of the model, which incorporates the highly sought-after 6139-8030T dial surrounded by a futuristic stainless steel case. The latter, as it so happens, is in perfect, knife-edge sharp condition, with all of its original finishing having remained preserved through the years. The remarkable color palette of the dial complements the cold glint of the steel that surrounds it yet simultaneously contrasts it, serving as an aesthetic centerpiece and lending the watch an inviting warm luster. The use of black and red both on the dial itself and on the 3 o’clock display ties everything together beautifully.
Our offering is in superb, entirely authentic condition. Neither the case nor the dial have been refinished or otherwise tampered with, and all internal and external components are original. The cherry on top – it comes outfitted with its OEM bracelet in equally amazing condition.
The cal. 6139 inside was just serviced by our in-house watchmaker and is ticking per spec.
The watch is covered by 6 months of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.
