Vintage Omega Constallation Pie Pan Chronometer ref. 167.005 – 1963, Gerald Genta design, Bracelet, Serviced

The Constellation was first introduced in 1952 and continues to be an integral part of Omega’s line-up to this day. It is one, if not the most technically advanced dress watch of the decade and undoubtedly has one of the most inventive and emblematic designs of its era. Of all possible versions of the model, the pie-pan dial variation is the most sought after by collectors and brand-enthusiasts alike. Sure enough that emblematic design comes from the best watch designer that ever lived – Gerald Genta himself. The example on offer here has thick applied golden indices, which give the already 3-dimensional dial additional depth. The Dauphine hands tie all its elements together quite nicely. And while the gold-plated case gives off the impression of understated simplicity at first, it reveals itself to be quite geometrically complex upon closer inspection, with the fancy extended lugs making the watch appear all the more substantial when viewed from the side. The underside of the case is adorned with the unmistakable golden Constellation medallion and – underneath – the robust, chronometer-grade caliber 551 ticks melodiously away. It was professionally serviced in 07.2020 and covers the COSC specifications event to this day. Glass is a replacement without the Omega imprint. The watch comes paired with the ref. 8270 bracelet, which has the ref. 70 endlinks. Dated to 1963 by the movement serial number.

Covered by a limited warranty of 6 months, starting on the date of purchase.
