Vintage Lip Mach 2000 Chronograph ref. C.23.2 by Roger Talon – Valjoux cal. 7734, Serviced, Superb condition

Backed by more than 150 years of history, LIP has a legitimate claim to the title of most historically significant French watch manufacturer. The company’s first electronic watch came out in 1952 – preceding Seiko’s Astron by 17 years and Bulova’s Accutron by 8 – and was presented to both U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower and French statesman and army officer Charles de Gaulle. Most impressive of all, LIP’s iconic T18 model was famously worn by the one and only Sir Winston Churchill.
The watch on offer here, the Mach 2000, marks another special occurrence in the history of French watchmaking – the collaboration between LIP and Mr. Roger Tallon.
Born in 1929 in France, Tallon was one of the driving forces behind the revolution of industrial design. A prodigy even at the fragile age of 21, he worked for companies like Caterpillar and DuPont. Later he joined Technés, where he became the director at the age of 30. Throughout his career, Tallon worked for many big names like Peugeot, General Electric, and Matra, to name but a few. He also designed the world-famous French super train, the TGV.
The Mach 2000 chronograph remains one of the most emblematic timepieces in the world of watchmaking design. By freeing itself from the classic forms of watchmaking, it has transcended to the realm of a pure design object and become a genuine work of art. As you might have already figured out, every detail of the watch was created with an ergonomic function in mind, be that ease of use or intuitive time reading.
Our offering is in superb, entirely authentic condition. It features no replacement parts and has not been tampered with in any way. The movement inside, the venerable Valjoux 7734, was just serviced by our in-house watchmaker and is ticking accurately.
