In 1977, in celebration of its 222nd birthday, Vacheron Constantin unveiled the now-legendary reference 222. The anniversary model improved upon the aesthetic and technical attributes associated with sports watches in the 70s, and it would later serve as the direct inspiration behind the timepiece on offer here – the Overseas Chronograph ref. 49150/000M-9338.
The assertive design codes of the Overseas are its defining characteristic. Amplified by its uncompromising functionality and ergonomic profile, they make it the perfect companion. This version of the model comes equipped with a 42.5 mm case that perfectly combines 18k Rose Gold and stainless steel and features a stunning anthracite-grey dial with a distinctive asymmetrical subsidiary dial layout, and is outfitted a comfy black rubber strap with deployant buckle. The case employs a mixture of finely brushed and mirror-polished surfaces that, together with its iconic notched Rose Gold bezel, highlight the watch’s intricate architecture. Functions include Hours, Minutes, Running Seconds, Big Date, and Chronograph. Hidden behind the sailing ship motif engraved onto the caseback, the VC caliber 1137 that powers them is ticking steadily away.
