Ever since it made its debut at Basellworld 2012, the Black Bay has been one of the most popular dive watches on the market, and it’s not difficult to see why. Not only is it an exceptional all-rounder, but it is also backed by an impressive heritage that traces its roots to non-other than Rolex. At the same time, it comes in a much more accessible price range, which makes it an excellent gateway to the world of luxury watches.
The Fifty-Eight Silver gets its name from the year that saw the release of Tudor’s first divers’ watch – 1958. Made to honor the aesthetics of the reference 7924 “Big Crown”, it comes in a 39 mm case fashioned out of 925 Silver and topped by a Taupe aluminum bezel. The dial’s color palette mirrors the insert’s color, while the iconic snowflake hands and luminescent dot, baton, and triangle indices provide contrast as well as infallible legibility. The case is mostly covered in fine hairlines, with beveled edges separating its adjacent surfaces, resulting in a finishing that rivals Rolex in terms of light diffusion. Of course, the hallmark Tudor Rose signed crown also makes an appearance, slightly oversized and as waterproof as always.
Proudly displayed by the sapphire caseback, the in-house caliber MT5400 is ticking tranquilly away.
