Vintage Seiko Flyback Chronograph ref. 7016-8001 Daini Seikosha made – All original, Serviced

In 1972, just three years after it had unveiled one of, if not the first automatic chronograph movement, Seiko introduced the most technically fascinating caliber of its time – the 17-jewel 7016A. All these years later, watchmakers still harbor a deep respect for the ingenuity and artistry that went into producing the movement, and watches powered by the latter are more sought after than ever.
The one on offer here is among the best examples we’ve ever come across – one that makes it especially easy to appreciate not only the model’s historical significance but also its exquisite aesthetic characteristics. The cherry on top – it was made in Seiko’s legendary Daini factory.
This ref. 7016-8001 Flyback Chronograph comes equipped with a 38 mm case that retains its original finishing – a blend of fine hairlines and polished details – thanks to never having been polished. The stealthy sunray texture of the dial interacts with the light that comes in through the domed acrylic crystal and thus lends the watch a lustrous quality. The dial is also in original condition (having never been repainted or otherwise tampered with) and comes adorned with faceted sword hands and applied indices. Rather unusually, the subsidiary dial at the 6 o’clock position serves a unique double purpose – its orange (the color has faded now to a light yellow) hand counts 30 or 60 elapsed minutes while the black one underneath it counts hours up to 12. Other features include a flyback complication, a quick-set date, and a day-of-the-week display adjusted by pushing the crown in.
Our offering is in good, all original condition, and it comes outfitted with its original stainless steel bracelet with Z022 endlinks. Serviced in 05.2021 and ticking per specs.

The watch is covered by 6 months of limited warranty from ChronoTimepieces.

At ChronoTimepieces, we take great pride in the quality and authenticity of our watches.

Every watch undergoes a thorough inspection process to ensure that it is in fully-authentic condition, both externally and internally. This includes checking all components for authenticity and functionality, as well as servicing and testing where needed.
All of our modern watches are carefully inspected and serviced where needed to ensure that they are in excellent condition and ready to be worn and enjoyed for many years to come. We only source our from reputable dealers, private sellers and manufacturers and we take great care to ensure that they are authentic, with non-questinable origins and have not been tampered with in any way.

For our vintage watches, we go above and beyond to ensure that they are in excellent condition and have not been tampered with over the years. We check each vintage watch against our database of original examples to ensure that no components have been replaced or tampered with, and we try our best to only use OEM parts for servicing.
We understand that many vintage watches sold online have been re-dialed, overpolished, or have movement parts with questionable origins, so we are committed to upholding the highest standards of authenticity and quality in our vintage watches. If there are any exceptions to this, we will always disclose them in the descriptive text for the respective timepiece.

In addition to our commitment to authenticity, we also offer a 1-year warranty on all of our watches. This gives you peace of mind and confidence in your purchase, knowing that if any issues arise within the first year after purchase, we will be happy to repair or replace the watch.
