Neither Rolex nor its flagship, the Submariner, need much in the way of introductions. Suffice it to say that it was the Sub that singlehandedly set the standard for what we refer to as a dive watch today, and that’s by no means a small feat. What’s more, few timepieces are as recognizable or as sought-after as it is, and that’s twice as true for the one we have the pleasure of being able to offer here.
The ref. 126610LV is the latest in a long line of heirs to the original 1953 Submariner. Succeeding the 116610LV Hulk, the eloquently-nicknamed Starbucks has several subtle-yet-significant design and functionality upgrades over its predecessor. A 1 mm increase in case size and a set of more slender lugs make for a sleeker overall look compared to the 116610LV, and the lugs’ slightly incurved shape adds to the piece’s already-impressive interaction with the light. Needless to say, the latter is where Rolex has always excelled beyond comparison, to which we are sure our photos will testify. The bracelet has also undergone a slight size increase, with the end-links now measuring 1mm bigger and a somewhat wider clasp than that of the Hulk.
The ref. 126610LV is powered by the latest generation caliber 3235 self-winding movement, which boasts a power reserve of 70 hours and features Paraflex shock absorbers, a Parachrom Blue hairspring, а Chronenergy escapement, and a Paramagnetic Oscillator balance.
