Rolex Milgauss ref. 116400 White dial – Box & Booklets, Polished per OEM Specs

When the Milgauss made its debut in 1956, electronics had already become very commonplace, and it hardly takes a physicist to know that whenever an electrical current is present, there is usually a magnetic field accompanying it. But whereas most mechanical watches – with all of their metal gears, springs, and levers – aren’t too fond of magnets, the Milgauss was designed to withstand fields of up to 1000 Gauss. Not only did this make it the perfect timepiece for professionals working around electronic equipment, but it also marked a significant milestone for Swiss watchmaking. Today, the model is often preferred by scientists, experimental physicists, and electrical engineers, but it’s by far most popular among watch enthusiasts for whom the likes of the Submariner and the Datejust simply aren’t exciting enough. Indeed, The Milgauss’ maverick aesthetic is just as vital – if not more so – to its iconic status as are its features, and nowhere is that as easy to appreciate as with the watch on offer here.
The ref. 116400 comes equipped with a beautiful 40 mm steel Oyster case topped by a polished bezel, and it features a pristine white dial protected by a flat sapphire crystal. The orange lightning-bolt seconds hand is a nod to the original 1956 model and, together with the Chromalight indices, it provides exceptional legibility no matter the lighting conditions. Inside, behind the plain caseback, the in-house caliber 3131 is ticking confidently away.
The watch was just professionally polished and is in flawless cosmetic condition. It comes with its original box and booklets but without the warranty card and is outfitted with its original three-piece Oyster bracelet with polished inner and brushed outer links. Ticking per specs.
