Rolex GMT-Master II Coke ref. 16760 Fat Lady from 1987 – Box & Booklets, Serviced & Polished

Designed to enable the wearer to tell the time in two different time zones simultaneously, the GMT-Master was developed as a navigation instrument for professionals traveling the globe. Its combination of effortless functionality, robustness, and instantly-recognizable aesthetics has made it a horological and cultural icon, which, over the last few decades, has blossomed into one of Rolex’s most diverse collections.
The GMT-Master II Coke ref. 16760 “Fat Lady” is one of, if not the rarest and most sought-after iteration of the model.
Launched in 1986, the Fat Lady was the first GMT-Master II to feature an independently-adjusted GMT hand. It was also the first one to include untarnishable white gold surrounds on the luminous hour markers, as well as the first GMT family member to be outfitted with a sapphire crystal.
The watch’s curious nickname is inspired by the noticeably thicker case, whose size is necessitated by the bulkier movement it houses. What’s more, while the 16760 retains the classic 40 mm case diameter, the crown guards are larger than those of earlier editions.
Interestingly enough, this GMT-Master II was only offered with the red and black bezel layout, making it one of the most emblematic Cokes out there. While the brand’s modern ceramic bezels are smoother and shinier, many enthusiasts prefer the older aluminum versions for their richer, deeper colors.
The Rolex GMT-Master II Coke ref. 16760 is powered by the calibre 3085 – an automatic dual time superlative chronometer movement. It was just serviced by our master watchmaker and is ticking unsurprisingly accurately.
Our offering is in superb condition, just serviced and polished per OEM specs (polishing was necessary because of previous attempts that ruined the finishes), and comes equipped with its original Oyster bracelet.
