Rolex Explorer I 39 Black 3 Arabic Numerals ref. 214270 – 2019, Full set, Superb condition

Pretty much every watch Rolex has ever produced is, in some sense of the word, emblematic. Among the company’s models, however, there are a few that have achieved the status of full-fledged cultural icons. The watch on offer here is one of those few. The Explorer has been evolving for over half a century, but its foundational principles have remained unchanged throughout its history – simplicity, reliability, and adaptability. It’s a sports watch, that much is clear, but – thanks to its clean and understated look – it feels as much at home in the boardroom as it does on the mountainside. The latter, incidentally, is where the first Explorer earned its reputation. It was designed by Rolex for testing on Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay’s 1953 expedition to Mount Everest. The original – worn by Norgay – can still be seen at the Beyer Museum in Zurich, Switzerland. As it is one of the most important watches ever assembled, taking a trip to the museum is considered a sort of horological Pilgrimage by many. The Explorer I is powered by the caliber 3132 – an automatically wound movement that ticks at 4Hz and has a power reserve of 48 hours. It features a Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers and, naturally, is a Certified Superlative Chronometer.
Our offering is in superb condition – first purchased in polished in 09.2019, it was worn very carefully and only has a few hairpins to be found. Comes in a full set of boxes and papers.

Covered by manufacturer’s international warranty (started in 09.2019).
