Among all of Omega’s historic timepieces, few are as widely recognized and celebrated as the Speedmaster – even the watch worn by agent 007 can’t hope to compete with the world’s most renowned chronograph, and that’s saying something. Having been a part of all six lunar missions, the legendary Moonwatch encapsulates the Swiss manufacturer’s philosophy of innovation, as well as their pioneering and adventurous spirit.
The version on offer here, the so-dubbed Blue Side Of The Moon, is one of the most compelling interpretations of the time-tested classic. It’s also one of the more unique iterations of the model, drawing inspiration for both its aesthetics and functionality from the night sky and its elusive colors.
The 44.25 mm watch comes equipped with a blue ceramic case complemented by a ceramic bezel ring with a Liquidmetal tachymetric scale. The dial is also fashioned out of blue ceramic, and it is adorned with 18k white gold indices and hands, which glimmer like distant stars against the dark backdrop. Somewhat unusually, it also features a Moonphase indicator at the 6 o’clock position, which incorporates a blue ceramic moon phase disc with near and far sides of the moon in LiquidMetal. The watch is outfitted with a blue leather strap with a ceramised titanium foldover clasp. Proudly displayed by the sapphire caseback is the OMEGA Co-Axial cal. 9904 – a METAS-certified Master Chronometer.
