In 2005 Omega launched the Planet Ocean line with its rich maritime legacy in mind, but the collection was more than a mere tribute – it was, and still is, a worthy continuation of the brand’s dive watch heritage. More importantly, it was an extension and a revitalization of the epochal Seamaster.
The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600M ref. 232.90.42.21.03.001 comes equipped with a 42 mm titanium case, whose historic design is emphasized by a mix of fine hairlines and smooth, mirror-like surfaces. The lush blue dial features applied SuperLumiNova indices, arrow-tipped hands, and a stealthy date display at the 3 o’clock position, and showcases an excellent balance between information markers and empty space. The unidirectional ceramic bezel around it echoes its color and reflects its characteristics. Thanks to its helium escape valve and screw-down crown and caseback, the PO 600M is water-resistant up to 600 meters (2000 feet). The watch wears lightly and comfortably by virtue of both its size and the materials used. Inside, the beautiful in-house Co‑Axial caliber 8500 is ticking per spec. The display caseback proudly presents this little marvel of Swiss horological engineering.
