Modeled after the legendary Constellation and fashioned in the true spirit of OMEGA, the Globemaster has to be one of the brand’s best watches. We don’t mean that objectively, of course, but suffice to say there’s always excitement in the office when one wanders through the door – even if it is just for servicing. Frankly, few watches are as easy to love as the Globie. (Note to self: do NOT call it that.)
Aesthetically, the Globemaster Annual Callendar is as close to perfection as OMEGA is ever likely to get. The dial takes after the iconic Pie-Pan architecture and showcases a delicate sunray finish, which in turn serves as a beautiful backdrop to the blued hands and applied hour indices (also blued). Between the indices, abbreviations of the months styled in cursive patiently await their turn to take center stage, or, at the very least, the supporting role. The dial’s flawless symmetry is preserved through the placement of the date display at the 6 o’clock position.
As far as the case is concerned, there’s also very little left to be desired. It measures at a balanced 41 mm in diameter and fits wrists of all sizes well, exuding the kind of understated elegance that we so rarely see in modern watchmaking. It is mostly covered in fine hairlines, but its beveled edges are discretely polished and therefore serve as a neat contrast to the case and fluted bezel. The Constellation Globemaster Annual Callendar is powered by the Co-Axial Master Chronometer Calibre 8922 – the successor to the world’s first Master Chronometer! The transparent caseback proudly displays this marvel of horological engineering, as it does the iconic Observatory medallion.
