The Spring Drive movement marked its debut in 1997, emerging after nearly two decades of meticulous research and development. Interestingly, it was Seiko, the same company that introduced the quartz wristwatch and triggered the Quartz Revolution in 1969, that announced this innovative movement. Deeply rooted in tradition, the Japanese watchmaking giant chose not to forsake traditional mechanical timekeeping but instead ushered it into the new millennium. The timepiece on offer here stands as one of the most revered descendants of the original Spring Drive, earning acclaim as one of the finest watches of the 21st century.
The SBGE255 boasts a sleek, angular stainless steel case, intricately crafted with a blend of finely brushed and Zaratsu-polished surfaces. The hands and indices, treated with the same methods, contribute to the blue sundburst dial’s unmissable allure. The seamless glide of the seconds hand, a reflection of the Spring Drive movement within, symbolizes the natural and continuous flow of time. Adding a distinctive touch, the slanted ceramic GMT bezel serves as a harmonious transition between the luminous steel and the deep dial. True to form, the solid steel bracelet matches the exceptional standards set by the rest of this extraordinary timepiece.
Powering the SBGE 255 is the Spring Drive cal. 9R66 – one of the most accurate hybrid mechanical movements in existence.
Our offering is brand new (dating to 07.2022), with 5 years of warranty remaining, and comes in a full set of boxes and papers.
