When watchmaker Franck Muller and Vartan Sirmakes, then a case maker, started their company in 1991, the two men agreed that it would specialize in watches that render historical complications in more modern, more spectacular ways. The aesthetic side of their work was of equal importance to them, so the designs the duo came up with were just as exciting as what lay underneath. Today, their Curvex and Curved Tonneau case architectures have become at least as emblematic as those of the Cartier Tank, the Reverso, and the Panerai Luminor.
The watch on offer here incorporates the restrained silhouette of the Curved Tonneau case, pairing it with a breathtaking Mother of Pearl dial. The result is a watch that wears like a dream and shines like a star. The dial features the iconic Muller Arabic numerals applied in a center-facing manner atop the cloud of brilliance that backdrops them. Since it is curved along its length and width, the crystal is fashioned by hand into the perfect fit, giving the watch a sleek, smooth profile. Inside, behind the brushed caseback, an in-house quartz movement is rhythmically ticking away.
