Breitling Chronomat Blackbird 44 Aviation Chronograph ref. A44359 – Rubber strap, Black dial

Breitling SA was founded in 1884 by Léon Breitling – a passionate and innovative watchmaker known for his sharp business sense. In 1915 – barely a year after he had passed – his son, Gaston, proved he had inherited his father’s pioneering spirit by launching one of the first-ever wrist chronographs with a separate push-piece above the crown. The brand’s innovations continued well into the 1940s, and in 1952 – with Willy Breitling in the driver’s (or rather pilot’s) seat – the Navitimer made its debut. The iconic model proved extremely popular among pilots, airlines, and aircraft manufacturers and would later go on to signify the beginning of Breitling’s avionic legacy. The watch on offer here – the Chronomat Blackbird Aviation – is a continuation of that same legacy.
The ref. A44359 sports a sturdy 44 mm stainless steel case, whose design is as appealing as it is straightforward, and of course, features the brand’s signature bezel. Breitling’s new and reinvented aesthetic is without a doubt very appealing, but this watch really does make you miss the old Breitling look. The combination of the satin-finished case and the legible, high-contrast dial gives it an air of sportiness, but its sleek and discreet profile means it wears like the sophisticated timepiece it is. Behind the BLACKBIRD-stamped caseback, the self-winding caliber B44 is ticking steadily.
Our offering is in very good condition and is outfitted with its original rubber strap. Ticking per specs.
